Industrial Hygiene Awareness Training
This course aims at providing the students with an introduction to safe industrial practices for mechanics. It addresses many workplace hazards: mechanical, and non-mechanical, with the primary emphasis being on hazard and risk assessment and management. Topics such as qualitative versus quantitative assessment, hierarchy of controls and the role of the occupational safety are examined. Students obtain practical experience performing qualitative workplace assessments and the creation of a workplace exposure prevention program. The key hazards associated with working in industrial areas will be focused on, with emphasis on inherent and contingent risks associated.
LEARNING OUTCOMES:
Upon successful completion of this course the student will have reliably demonstrated the ability to:
- Explain the importance of industrial safety.
- Analyze and apply industrial safety strategies with respect to mechanical and non- mechanical hazards.
- Identify industrial safety standards, testing systems, and monitoring techniques.
- Recognize, assess, and control mechanical and non-mechanical hazards.
- Apply the laws and regulations applicable to industrial safety
